Bangalore: The state government on Thursday signed a concession agreement with Jupiter Aviation for starting work on the Hassan airport project.
Speaking to reporters here, principal secretary (public works) Sudhir Krishna said the airport will come up on 960-acre plot and with an initial investment of Rs 600 crore. This will be one of the biggest airport projects in the state, he said.
By 2015, the airport would be handling nearly 60,000 tonnes of cargo per year and generate revenue to the tune of Rs 100 crore. Apart from generating over 5,000 jobs, the airport would have attracted investments over Rs 3,000 crore.
